Project Description

Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations is the name of a show put on by the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The impossible conversations are fragments from a simulated dialogue between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two grand fashion revolutionaries who speak of aesthetics and of their personal view of fashion. Both were involved in the world of art: Schiaparelli with the Surrealist movement and Dali’, and Prada, through the Prada Foundation, with contemporary art. Both expand the confines of taste and defy conformism.
The exhibition is a sort of theatre piece, an itinerary among mirrors and transparent walls from which emerge interesting parallels among the groundbreaking creations of the two designers.
